Forged by hand in England by artist Korben Bloomfield from his own house-made formula that combines an 80Crv2 carbon steel core with copper-jacketed nickel, the blade is shaped for performance, measuring 180mm / 7.1″ long and standing 61mm tall. A razor-sharp edge that boasts a ‘zero’ grind, meaning the lower, convex portion of the primary bevels slim progressively to the apex of the thin cutting edge itself with no secondary bevel to speak of, will move through ingredients like butter. With his protective and handsome special ‘black’ finish across the bevels and forge-finished flats above them, Korben produces a blade with a visual beauty as striking as its functional aptitude, revealing the natural copper color through a careful etching and polishing process. For comfort and control, polished, black G10 meets steel to begin a removable handle that fills the cook’s hand, completed with a domed ‘take-down’ pin through the sculpted, stabilized maple wood.
