Alonzo Blue Butterscotch Chef 235mm

A rare offering by Sean Alonzo of the Philippines is here in stunning, pre-owned, unused, like-new condition. Boasting Sean’s silky, hand-sanded satin finish, the 235mm / 9.25″ blade stands a handsome 62mm tall at the heel, the meticulously shaped convex bevels slimming downward from the rounded, polished spine to a thin, razor-sharp edge. The blade’s Western profile sweeps upwards to a high, especially slim, needle-like tip perfect for long slices and detail work, its placement nearly in line with the top of the handle, further adding to the tool’s versatility. The knife rocks beautifully on the board for big chopping tasks using the rear portion of the edge beneath a spine that is stiff and tough, while a full-distal taper slims that spine progressively to create a dynamic and well-rounded tool with precision and even a slight touch of lateral flexibility present in the final inches. As in the blade, fit, finish, and a superb attention to detail defines a stylish handle sculpted from vintage butterscotch micarta over layers of blue paper micarta and carbon fiber, between which the blade’s tang tapers heavily, yet another sign of the thoughtful care and deftness that goes into each object of Sean’s making. Large, ergonomic, and designed to fill the hand for uncompromising meal prep morning, noon, and night, the handle is secured with two, flush, polished steel pins. A custom saya of sharkskin leather is included.
