Swedish artist Tobbe Lundström‘s contribution to The Art of Cutlery, a slicing knife named “Klyfta,” on show during summer 2024 in Tribeca, NYC, pairs Tobbe’s iconic Scandinavian style chef’s slicing knife crafted in locally sourced materials with a one-of-a-kind, presentation-grade saya. The knife features a blade shaped from Swedish-made stainless damascus steel and a handle whose ingredients include a mosaic damascus bolster by Sweden’s Mattias Styrefors, fossilized walrus tooth, and ancient bog oak. Constructed of the same bog oak, the saya is embellished with an intricately engraved piece of reindeer antler by Swedish artist Patrik Nilsson, and completed with a pin of fossilized walrus tooth. Sharp and ready to use, this work is designed for carving and serving in the dining room.
